Job Description:

Southern Wind Shipyard is seeking an experienced Systems & Electrical Coordinator to lead and coordinate the installation and integration of all onboard systems across our yacht builds. This role will oversee both the Mechanical/Systems and Electrical departments, ensuring that propulsion, systems, and electrical cables, equipment and electronics are installed efficiently and integrated seamlessly throughout the build process. A key objective of this role is improved coordination between departments and a streamlined installation process.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Coordinate and oversee the Mechanical Systems and Electrical Installation departments. Ensure effective integration of electrical and mechanical systems throughout the yacht build. Manage installation and commissioning of systems including:

  • Engine room outfitting
  • Main engine, auxiliary systems and drive train
  • Electrical generation and distribution
  • Navigation and onboard electronic systems
  • Refrigeration and HVAC / air conditioning
  • Fresh water, grey water, black water and bilge systems
  • Hydraulic and auxiliary systems
Align installation schedules between departments to improve workflow and efficiency. Review and interpret system diagrams, electrical schematics, and technical drawings. Coordinate with project managers, technical co-ordinators, drawing office, engineers, and subcontractors to ensure systems are installed according to design and classification requirements Oversee testing, troubleshooting, and commissioning of onboard systems. Ensure installations meet quality standards and classification society requirements.

Experience and Skills Required:

  • Previous experience with min 10 Years in the marine, yacht building, or shipbuilding industry.
  • Proven experience managing and coordinating technical teams or installation departments.
  • Strong technical understanding of both electrical and mechanical marine systems.
  • Formal technical or qualifications related to the requirements of the position 
  • Experience with propulsion systems, electrical installations, HVAC, refrigeration, pumps and piping.
  • Ability to read technical drawings, system diagrams, and electrical schematics.
  • Strong organisational and communication skills.
