Job description 

Location:
Athlone Industria, Cape Town, South Africa.

Job Description:

• Material Selection: Choosing the right composite materials for different parts of the yacht, ensuring they meet performance, weight, and safety standards.
• Production Management: Overseeing the production of composite parts, including hulls, decks, superstructures, and other components. Ensuring manufacturing techniques (like molding, lamination, and curing) are carried out properly.
• Team Supervision: Managing a team of engineers, technicians, and workers involved in the design, production, and assembly of composite parts. This includes training, scheduling, and coordinating tasks.
• Quality Control: Ensuring that all composite components meet the required quality standards, performing inspections, and addressing any defects or issues that arise during production.
• Research and Development: Innovating and improving the use of composite materials, working on new technologies, and collaborating with design and engineering teams to push the limits of what’s possible in yacht construction.
• Cost and Efficiency Optimization: Working to improve production efficiency and reduce material waste, which is key in keeping costs down while maintaining high standards.
• Safety and Compliance: Ensuring that the use of composite materials complies with international safety regulations and certifications specific to the maritime industry.

REQUIREMENTS

• Minimum 10 years’ experience in a boatbuilding environment
• Minimum 5 years managerial experience
• 3 year degree / diploma or related qualifications
• Computer literacy
• The applicant is recommended to hold SA citizenship, permanent residency or another form of accepted work visa.

Language:
Fluent in English
