Location: Athlone Industria, Cape Town, South Africa.
Job Description:
The successful candidate will be tasked with the design of mechanical systems and boat features such as mooring system, transom doors, tender garage, dodgers and biminis. They will also be actively involved with the design of composite structures and associated moulds. The candidate will be responsible for drafting and preparing drawings for production, using both 2D and 3D CAD software.
Mandatory Requirement The applicant must hold SA citizenship, permanent residency or another form of accepted work visa.
CORE COMPETENCIES, ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS and PREFERENCES Education and Experience Requirements:
BEng / BSc Engineering degree with work experience in yacht building 5+ years of experience in the marine industry Practical sailing experience Design experience with composites such as E-Glass, Carbon, etc. a bonus
Software Requirements:
Strong working knowledge of SolidWorks (or similar) Strong working knowledge of AutoCAD (or similar) Working knowledge of MS Office package (especially Excel)
Characteristics:
Methodical / systematic worker Dependable / honest and can work in a high pressure environment Have good technical skills and knowledge Fluency in English A good perception of 3D space. Good communication skills (verbal & written)
